We are facing a lot of errors with Yoast SEO pluging on our WordPress news portal. The most disturbing error is the one that occurs while we are doing On Page SEO. The plugin doesn’t identify the Focus Keyword and misunderstands Meta Description as the Focus Keyword.

Also, when we share an article om Google+, it fails to pick the article headline and shows the website title instead.

Kindly help us resolve these two issues as soonas possible!

Could you please provide some screenshots of the two issues you’ve identified where the plugin doesn’t identify the focus keyword and where it misunderstands the meta description as the focus keyword?

We need more details and for you to expound on what you entered as the focus keyword and where the plugin malfunctioned. If you could provide error messages or the notifications you are getting, that would be helpful.

Please make sure that the focus keyword doesn’t have any special characters. The focus keyword is also intended to be in the meta description, as this will help with SEO as well.

    Focus Keyword
Can you please edit your focus keyword to make it shorter to check whether this detects focus keyword on SEO title and shows you the green signal?

    Google+ Sharing

    • Does this issue occur with specific pages or posts or it occurs with all of your pages or posts on your site?
    • Can you please share the exact post/page URL that shows on the screenshot so that we can test it on our end?

Well! The Focus keyword seems to work now. But the Google+ Sharing error is still there on all posts and pages.

Take this post as an example: Date Sheet for Theory Exam of Paramedical Trainees (Jan-Feb, 2018)

The reason why you are seeing the old title is that Google Plus (like most other social networks) is caching URLs which have been previously posted.

This means that even though you might have made the changes in Yoast SEO, Google Plus will not check for them, but show the cached version instead.

?Unfortunately, you cannot force Goole to clear the cache of an URL and there is no way to determine when it will get updated. However, there is a workaround by adding query strings to your URLs. Thus, when adding them, Twitter will consider them new URLs and will scrape the page for tags instead of using the cached ones.

For example, you could post your URL on Google+ using using https://kashmirpulse.com/notifications/date-sheet/date-sheet-theory-exam-paramedical-trainees-jan-feb-2018/26786.html?utm_source=GooglePlus

You can add any other query string, we are using this one as it’s also a valid URL parameter for Google Analytics.

One last question, have you removed Other tab in Title & Metas settings. I noticed it now!

    Hello,

Since the release of v6.3 of Yoast SEO, we’ve removed the meta keywords function, which was located in the Other tab of Titles & Metas.

You can read more about it here — https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-6-3/
