    hello,

I have updated Yoast on my websites Yesterday night! And now my backend UI is all scrambled and not working.

I am getting a lot of errors from my console, I am not trying to paste them all here, here is one:

Uncaught ReferenceError: YoastShortcodePlugin is not defined
    at HTMLDocument.R (wp-seo-post-scraper-790.min.js:33)
    at i (load-scripts.php:2)
    at Object.fireWith [as resolveWith] (load-scripts.php:2)
    at Function.ready (load-scripts.php:2)
    at HTMLDocument.K (load-scripts.php:2)

There are some conflicts for sure!

HOPEFULLY, AN UPDATE PRETTY SOON WILL FIX ALL OF THIS?

Some other few questions I have are regarding the “search appearance”,

    – what is “Templates (es_template)” should i include it in search results?
    – should I include “tags” and “formats” in my sitemaps?
    – I have disabled ” Author archives settings” and “Date archives settings” do you think that it is a good idea?
    – how to find out the best place to put breadcrumbs?

    thanks

    Hi @marcodiversi,

    We’ve addressed your questions below.

    Yoast SEO not working
It seems like something happened halfway through the update process and you ended up with a corrupted or incomplete installation of Yoast SEO. We’d recommend manually updating through FTP as in this guide and check if the issue persists.

    es_template
The es_emplate is not part of the WordPress default post types or taxonomies. It is likely a custom post type/taxonomy created by your plugin or your WordPress theme.

As long as you allow it to be shown in the search results, you can also find a sitemap for it in your website’s /sitemap_index.xml

Check the URLs for in es_template sitemap, if they lead to useful pages then you should continue to allow them to be shown in the search results. If they lead to broken or useless pages, then you should not show them in the search results anymore (this will also remove the sitemap for this post type).

    Tags and Formats
Tag and Category SEO can be done correctly, as in this guide. However, if you have created dozens of tags with thin content and that do not provide real value, it might be best to noindex them (which also includes removing them from the sitemap).

In regards to the Formats sitemap, if you’re not using them, it is safe to noindex them. Most people do not use different formats (only the standard format), in which case it is safe to noindex them.

    Author and date archives
If your website has a single author, it’s best to disable the author archives. As for date archives, the answer can vary based on each website. If your posts are not highly related to the date (such as news), then it’s safe to remove them.

    Inserting breadcrumbs
Unfortunately, there is no exact answer as each theme is different. From an SEO point of view, it doesn’t really matter.

The best way to find out is through trial and error, by adding the snippet from this guide.

In general, the breadcrumbs are added above the content area of posts/pages, but this is not enforced.

this is a very nice answer, I will print it!

I have recently discovered that all the problems are coming from my hosting, nothing works properly since 4 days and I am very mad!

But yeah, the installation did not go well because there are connectivity problems between, my hosting, Cloudflare, and the server!

thanks a lot for the other explanations, I still don’t deeply understand what’s the es_tempalte file in sitemap tho! but it looks like is a good idea to give a nice noindex to it!

    Hi @marcodiversi,

If you can send us the link to your website’s sitemap, we could tell you if the es_template should be indexed or not.

@marcodiversi We reviewed the sitemap but weren’t able to locate any URLs referencing es_template. Are these currently set to not appear in the search results/sitemap?

    (@marcodiversi)

yes they are set to ‘not appear’!

You will need to set it to appear in order for it to be viewable in the sitemap index.

However, in any case, we’re not familiar with the es_templates. You can do some further research and in-depth analysis of your website and what pages the es_templates generates, and see if it’s something you’d like to show your visitors and to show in the search results. If not, you can keep it as to not appear in the search results for a better over-all experience.

    (@marcodiversi)

    ok thanks!

I have tried to re-set to appear but they didn’t appear immediately!

I am trying again but maybe it’s better to set them to not appear!

I just care that people land on my posts forms search results!
