Hi, I am using Divi theme on my website and Yoast SEO to work on the page’s SEO.

In Yoast’s settings you can set a format for the pages to appear when you use the search engines: e.g. name of page and description may be separated by this ‘|’ symbol.

So, I have given it a format, then I have set up a custom metadescription on my website’s homepage (which is built with Divi).

However, when I search the name of my website (Fonresur), it only appears on the second page, and while the other pages have gotten Yoast’s format, homepage doesn’t seem to apply the changes I’ve made with Yoast (like the metadescription).

Why isn’t Google indexing it properly? And why doesn’t it get Yoast’s customization?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @kreativamarketing,

We understand that Google is showing a different title and meta description from the one you set in Yoast for your homepage https://fonresur.com/.

Upon checking the page source they appears as follow:

    <title>Fonresur | Empresa de Desatascos y reformas</title>
<meta name="description" content="Empresa multiservicios. Especialistas en desatascos de arquetas, construcción, servicios de limpieza, fontanería, jardinería y muchos otros." />

Now, while searching your site in Google, it shows differences in the search results.

Unfortunately, this is common. While Google typically uses the title and meta description from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. The title and meta description you enter in our snippet preview are?suggestions for Google. Google’s goal is to best represent and describe each result. They use a number of different sources to get this information. In doing so, they try to make the search results as relevant as possible. Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display your preferred title.

Using the?URL Inspection Tool?can sometimes force Google to update its index.
