Hi everyone, long time users of Yoast and I love it. Recently I got an email from my wordpress install saying that Yoast caused an issue:

“Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Yoast SEO.

First, visit your website and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (/wp-admin/post-new.php) and check for any visible issues.”

Indeed, now when I try to make a new post, I get this error:

    https://cl.ly/849d3ab2e441

“The site is experiencing technical difficulties.”

I already tried updating the Yoast plugin. Should I deactivate it? I dont want to do that because I have a lot of important SEO settings in Yoast. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • I can confirm this same behavior. I’m getting “The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” inside the Yoast Meta box in the classic editor.

    This is using version 11.8
    Here’s the php error:

Got error 'PHP message: PHP Fatal error:
    Uncaught Error: Class 'WPSEO_Metabox_Collapsible'
    not found in
    [domainpath]/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/class-social-admin.php:91

I tried downgrading to 11.7 and then re-upgrading to 11.8, but I got the error in both versions.

Fixed. This had to do with upgrading; the newer version required different javascript paths, for example:
    wp-seo-modal-1180.min.js (version 11.8)
    wp-seo-modal-1170.min.js (version 11.7)

And the php cache hadn’t cleared after update, so the php was still asking for the 1170 version of the file, but it didn’t exist anymore. Fixed this by clearing php cache.

Thank you @jakeparis , do you have instructions on clearing our php cache? I can’t find an answer that seems relevant when I google the question.
