    Hello,

I prefer introducing my articles with bullet lists to highlighlight what the posts are about before providing more details in paragraphs.

Normally, I place the keyphrase on one of the bullet points. Unfortunately, Yoast can’t see the keyphrase when I use the bullet points (using the default Guternberg editor in WordPress).

    Example:

    • Something here about the article.
    • Something here with the keyphrase.
    • Something here with more details.

But if I don’t use bullet points, Yoast is able to see the Keyphrase. Looks like a bug on Yoast or its a limitation?

    Hello @essaund

Thanks for reaching out regarding the keyphrase assessment. When writing a post or page, we advise using your focus keyphrase in your introduction. This should be in the first bullet point for it to be detected.

It’s understandable if you can’t have the first point include the keyphrase. This does not affect how search engines crawl and analyze your site. Search engines process the front end of your site and will detect your content.

@maybellyne ~ Thanks for your reply.

The example I gave earlier was just an illustration. It still doesn’t work if I put the keyphrase as the first item on the bullet lists. Of course, that means it will be the first thing on the page (introduction).

I know it won’t affect the way search engines see my articles. But I use Yoast insights to help optimize for SEO and know areas I need to work on. Such inconsistencies can lead to poor optimization or over-optimization.

@maybellyne ~ can you double-check the issue? I believe this is a bug.

When the first bullet point contains the exact match of your focus keyphrase, you should get Keyphrase in introduction: Well done! Otherwise, you’d get Keyphrase in introduction: Your keyphrase or its synonyms do not appear in the first paragraph.?Make sure the topic is clear immediately.

It still doesn’t work if I put the keyphrase as the first item on the bullet lists. Of course, that means it will be the first thing on the page (introduction).

Please share a screenshot of your content (the bullet list), the focus keyphrase field and the SEO analysis.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

How can I privately send you a video demonstrating the issue.

    Regards

    Hello,

After further troubleshooting, I have found the issue is with my theme and not Yoast. I have since contacted the developer to fix it.
