Yoast bug with the links in gutenberg table block
-
Hello,
I recently stumbled across a bug with the links in wordpress when the Yoast plugins is installed. To be more specific the issue was seen in the native table WordPress block. Here is the setup we were working with so that you can reproduce the issue.
- Create a new page/post
- Add the native gutenberg table block
- For the test we made it a 2×2 table ( the default size )
- In the first two columns we have added some text
- In the second two columns we have added text that we added links to
After this has been done we choose the first row and delete the text from the first column. Then we go to update the link on the second column after the link has been updates for some reason it is being duplicated in the deleted field in the first column. This happens in Firefox( latest version of the browser ) every time so for the testing it will be easier if you try it there. But it is also happening on Google Chrome. It is a bit tricky to replicate it there but it is possible.
I have attached 2 videos with the problem:
- Firefox – https://youtu.be/G7GmgrzrDYA – easier to reproduce
- Add texts in the first columns and a text with link to the second columns
- Delete the text from the first column
- Clink to update the link url from the second column
- After the save the link appears the the first column too
- Google Chrome – https://youtu.be/I8ROnZ5TrpA
- To reproduce it here:
- Add the texts in the first columns and a text with a link to the second column
- Delete the text from the first column
- Update the link from the second column
- Add some random text to the first column
- With the keyboard click on CTRL + Z to undo the added text
- After it has been undo it is going to focus on the link again
- Update the link again
- The link should appear in the column where was the text
- To reproduce it here:
From my additional testing it appears that this issue is not happening if the Yoast plugins is not active and the link block is looking differently as well. I would love to hear from you if there is any way to fix the issue
