At first, I thought this was something that had occurred after a database update, but it’s not. In admin, when I click on Yoast SEO -> General, I can see the menu options “Dashboard, Features, Integrations, Webmaster Tools, Crawl settings, Beta, First-time Configuration,” and that’s all. None of the settings are visible. This also means that Yoast is unavailable within the Gutenberg block editor.

This is happening on 5 of the 15 sites that I maintain. My personal site, The Good Plate, is a premium account, but the others are not. They are not using the same theme and not all using the same plugins. I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin, and still no joy. I am using the latest version of the plugin, and all themes and other plugins are up to date. Some of the sites are running PHP 8.0, and some are running 7.4. They are all hosted at the same hosting company, the ones that work and those that don’t. I cannot see any common denominator. They literally have nothing in common except they all have the Yoast plugin.

I am posting here because out of the 15 sites with the Yoast plugin that I maintain, 5 are FUBAR. I am happy to provide URLs and login credentials to debug this. I don’t like Rank Math that much, and it would pain me to have to switch. Please get this solved ASAP.

  • Just +1ing this.

I also have a couple of client sites sending me the “Technical Issue” email where I’m now getting the WordPress “Critical Error” notification in admin screens like Pages or if I run Yoast’s SEO Data Optimisation. I have had to deactivate the plugin temporarily on these sites. I haven’t checked the other 50+ yet but it’s on my list today since the error on these two sites has been persistent.

It’s only been since the last couple of updates for 19.7.1 and 19.7.2 that we’ve noticed these issues.

Until I check the other sites I can’t be sure what commonalities might exist unfortunately. These two were using Elementor as the builder but the mix of other plugins and the themes, aside from the hosting, are different.

    Hello @arbpen

I am sorry that you are experiencing blank settings with the Yoast SEO plugin. Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

@ribbongang We are sorry you’re having a similar issue. Please open a new request. That way, it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!
