@livingeasylivecom We tested the breadcrumb short [wpseo_breadcrumb]using Yoast SEO 14.9 and it did output the breadcrumbs as expected.

Can you please let us know what occurs when you try using the shortcode when using Yoast SEO version 14.9? Is the shortcode output as text and not recognized?

Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.4/5.5? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. as stated on my update above I had to roll back the new version of WordPress to get Yoast breadcrumbs to work. Obviously the newest version of WordPress is not playing nice with Yoast 5.5.1 WP is the latest.

I rolled back to to the previous version of WP and Yoast working again I also use total theme since this is a production server and production site everything is always updated immediately including the theme

@livingeasylivecom I apologize, I read your initial message as that you had reverted to the previous version of the plugin. Sorry about that, that was my mistake.

I tested the breadcrumbs using WordPress 5.5.1 and Yoast SEO 14.9, so the issue you are experiencing may be due to another plugin or theme interfering with the Yoast SEO plugin’s output of the breadcrumbs.

Can you please try performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin?

The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one.

If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

We also have a guide on performing a conflict check available here: How to check for plugin conflicts.

I rolled back to WP ver 5.5 and the problem went away and running Yoast 14.9. When I bring WordPress up to date to ver 5.5.1 the shortcode shows and breadcrumbs are gone. I will put this on our dev server over the weekend and try and troubleshoot the issue. AJ is pretty good with the Total theme updated lately almost monthly.

I Will let you know how it works out so please don’t close the thread up till I get back to you before Monday

    Okay, Guys –

I finally got a chance to work on this today. Well, I transferred a fresh copy to the dev server. Updated the WP version and Yoast breadcrumbs worked fine so I moved it over to my live site all is now working one can only guess that a rare paid version of a plugin that was updated today was causing the issue.
