I have been holding off on updating WordPress over the last month due to previous posts that there were some compatibility issues and that we needed to download another plugin temporarily to make them work perfectly. I cannot seem to find if the issue was corrected. Basically I am looking for confirmation that I can upgrade WordPress without issue. Thanks.

    Hi @beantown123 ,

We understand you want to make sure everything is working smoothly before upgrading your WordPress version to the latest.

With the update to WordPress 5.5, a migration tool known as jquery-migrate is no longer enabled by default. This may lead to unexpected behaviors in sites as some plugins are still running older codes which is the reason why you will have to install the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper as a temporary fix. The permanent fix for this is for these plugins (running older codes) to update to adapt to the recent changes made to the core.

With that being said, we cannot guarantee that upgrading your WordPress to 5.5.1 will work perfectly 100% as we are not familiar with your setup and we don’t know the plugins installed on your site.

Have you ever considered setting up a?staging environment?for your tests? This means that you can do all the testing and only change or upgrade the WordPress version of the live site when all works like intended.

Your host might be able to help
Some popular web hosts offer quick setups for a staging site so please contact your web host for assistance. They will probably be able to help you out.

Alternative options to set up a staging environment
If your web host does not offer staging sites, the WordPress plugin repository offers?staging?plugins?or you can?create your own staging site.

Ok thanks. Is Yoast going to fix it related to their plugin?>

The latest version of Yoast SEO already comes with a fix to prevent the jQuery Migrate Helper issue.

    Ok cool thanks.

    Hi @beantown123,

Let us know if updating WordPress or installing the jQuery migrate helper plugin doesn’t solve the problem.
