    Immediately after up date 15.1.1 the following happened.

    1. Pages on our site took ages to partially load
    2. When partially loaded, all that appeared was a column of text on the LHS that was a list of the headings- no text, no images.

    Did a restore form last nights backup and it worked OK. So this is purely a Yoast issue as no other changes were made.

    Hello @tomdhu,

    We are very sorry that updating to Yoast SEO 15.1.1 causes your site to crash; we know how frustrating this could be.

    This issue could happen if the site does not meet the plugin requirements. For more information on all of the plugin requirements, you can refer to this article — https://yoast.com/help/plugin-requirements/.

    Does your website meet the requirements?

    Hi,
    Thanks for responding.

    Our versions are as follows:-
    Wordpress = 5.5.1
    PHP = 7.4.9
    Avada = 7.1

    There were no changes made to the site in the last week. No new plugins installed in the last 3 months. We work on the basis of. “If it ain’t broke….”

    Meanwhile, we have reverted to state before the Yoast update. We ran the Yoast tester and the optimisation failed.

    Hope this helps.
    Our site is trapbarn.com – very basic, nothing fancy -lean & mean, fast and functional!

    @tomdhu,

    Just to be sure, we would like to rule out any plugin or theme conflicts that may occur. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?

    Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Thank you.

    OK, we may be able to do what you say later today but can you tell me why the the Yoast tester and the optimisation failed after I had restored from backup and reverted to state before this update?
    Presumably the optimisation process should work properly should have worked then.

    Would it be anything to do with your recent integration of SEMRUSH?

    Update!

    It has successfully run the optimisation. Will try your suggestions later.

    Much relieved!
    After that optimisation took place (after the 4th attempt) I did the update to 15.1.1 and now all is well again.
    Which begs the question, how frequently should optimisation be done?

    @tomdhu Thanks for your reply and we’re glad to hear that the issue is now resolved.

    As for re-running the optimization of the site, that typically shouldn’t need to be done more than once. However, occasionally an issue can occur and it requires it being done again, which sounds like what occurred in your case. We do apologize for any inconvenience that causes and appreciate your understanding.
