• So, I am managing my own server, running macos10.4. I have installed MySQL, and enabled PHP. I have created a MySQL user with full rights to my wordpress database, and I have confirmed that it exists and that I know it’s password via the Terminal.

But WordPress resolutely gives me the “No Dice” Error, it can’t find my MySQL server etc.

I have tried everything I can think of in the DB_HOST field, including 127.0.0.1, it’s internal IP (192.168.123.186), it’s name (henry-herndons-imac.local), it’s external address, and of course, localhost.

I have restarted, etc, etc, etc, etc….

I would like this to work!

    Any insight?

Is there any chance that you could install WordPress via this guide? https://maczealots.com/tutorials/wordpress/

It will probably involve configuring PHP and MySQL again, but it has never failed.

I first installed MySQL via a different guide, then found that, and I have completed all the steps outlined in that guide, and all the steps have come out right (apparently)

I could try following that guide to the letter on a virgin os install, but i’d like to try something a little less extreme before that.

    thanks.
