yet another google map question

I’m new to wordpress and it’s surprising how some very easy things became a nightmare. I simply want to embed a Google Map in a page. Simply copiyng and pasting the iframe embed code provided by google.
It seems impossible to reach it.
I found various plugins, but they are stupidly full of not necessary features, requires API keys, and most of them are adware.
For a thing that should be a simple paste of code it seems to me really silly.
