Yes does not work but no allows access to site

  • Since I have updated to V3 ( I’ve been using age gate about 3 years now) I seem to have the same problem with all v3 updates. The ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ ( are you over 18) are now difficult to see (visually White lettering on Grey backround…previous was black on grey backround…everything else is the same as before.

    Anyway, When I click on Yes (I am over 18) nothing happens, when I click on No, I can access site. I have updated up to 3.8 on updates and the same happens. I need to rollback to last 2 version (2.21.1) and everything works as normal again.

    I have WP Cache and JavaScript mode has been enabled by default. I have also emptied cache in WP Cache and on browsers. Any ideas why the 3 version is not working and the latest 2 version is working ok. P.S I am a newbe at this so wont understand a lot of plugin jargon. I would upload screenshots but can’t see anywhere to upload writing this message. Regards Paul.

    The colour customisation is something that’s in the works to make it a bit easier.

    As for the clicking of the buttons, did you get any kind of error message when clicking “yes”? That can give a hint to the problem (“An error occurred” generally means it can’t get a connection to test the users input, “Too young etc” is less obvious to me). I’ve not seen clicking “no” allow access before either. Guess a stupid question potentially, but were the buttons labelled correctly?

    To your question about v2 vs v3, they share very little in the way of actual code, more just the principals are shared.

    I normally use imgur or dropbox for screenshots if you did want to share anything. But I think any info on errors isa good first step.

    No error message when clicking yes, page seems to acknowledge I have pressed yes but screen stays the same. Tried clicking yes 10 times and page seems to know I have pressed yes but page returns as same. I press No and page give error now. You are not old enough to view this page so it seems the No button is working correctly.

    No stupid questions when a newbe is involved Phil lol but I have checked the Yes and NO fields. 1st Yes then NO …Yes = YES and No = NO.

    When I do not clear cache tho, and refresh page to load 2nd time, YES still does not work but No immediately let me in and there is no “you are too young to view page” error.

    When Cache is cleared YES does not work and NO displays error “you are too young”.
