I’ve noticed that just recently, I’m constantly getting the message “Yelp is exhausted (Contact Yelp to increase your API call limit)”

Anything that can be done about this? I’m using the standard yelp widget pro plugin and it seems the API keys are hardcoded.

  • The call limit from yelp is 25,000 a day I doubt my 20 click website is getting that traffic. We have two locations and two widgets that just started doing this today 9/15. One location still shows the other displays the message “Yelp is exhausted (Contact Yelp to increase your API call limit)”

Inside your Yelp widget, please go to the Advanced Options section, and make sure the Cache setting is set to at least 1 day, 1 week is preferrable. Also click the “Clear Cache” option just to get on the right track first.

Let me know if that resolves the issue by tomorrow since it’ll take a day for that limit to be cleared for your site.

    We’re having the same problem.

I updated to 1 week and cleared website cache yesterday, I don’t see a clear cache option in the widget itself or in the settings. I also don’t see where the API key is set, since the only thing available in settings for the plugin is disable CSS.

We’re on a multisite wordpress installation, if that makes a difference.

I contacted yelp and they wanted our API key to look into it, but I can’t locate our API key in the plugin and when I logged in to yelp to look for it we didn’t have an app set up, so not sure how it’s working at all.

    Thanks for your help.

When I try to put the shortcode into pages, posts than It show me the following error message.

‘The default Yelp API has exhausted its daily limit. Please enable your own API Key in your Yelp Widget Pro settings.”

I also added a cache parameter with in the shortcode.

Hey @webdevmattcrom – I’m having the same issue on my site:

    SnellvilleFraming.com

You’ll see the message on the homepage. Would love to know what I can do to get it fixed. Can I put my own API key in there?

WE have deactivated, deleted and reinstalled the app. When you set the app to 1 day it puts the “Yelp is exhausted (Contact Yelp to increase your API call limit)” up faster. This response is generated by the app not Yelp, Yelp says we are accessing the reviews via our page and there is no way we are reaching the 25,000 per day call limit.

There is no advanced option to reset the app but I doubt this is the issue as I have deleted, removed and tried other apps and it is still doing this. At one week it only does it a few times a week.

Please suggest a solution, or help in your Pro user option thank you!

Anyone know how to get this fixed?

Yelp has made changes to their API which are prohibitive under these circumstances. But we are busy working on a new solution. We are in the middle of totally revamping how we do Business Reviews as a whole. If you’re interested in learning more about what we’ve got up our sleeves and maybe doing some beta testing for us, feel free to sign-up here: https://wpbusinessreviews.com

    Thanks!

Where did the option go to put in our own API keys?

We removed it because at the time Yelp was limiting the number of reviews to ONE, and our API could list 3 and had a huge daily limit. Things have changed A LOT since then. Actually, Yelp just announced another huge change in the new API just today as a matter of fact. So, we’re working hard on our new product to stay ahead of the game on all the moving parts. It’s coming together nicely. I highly suggest following WPBusinessReviews on Twitter for updates and signup for the beta on the website.

    Thanks!

this is the new message this app displays, it you search it with Google you will find 100’s of sites that are displaying this message at the time they where crawled.

As I have stated before this message is generated by this app not yelp. Yelps call limit is 25,000 a day might site might generate 15 …

I am using the business method with Business Id no API.

The only thing that changes this is to change the cache from none to 1 week let it sit for a few minutes clear your cache on your site and back to none or visa versa from one week to none back to 1 week. This is the only fix. This message is displayed about every two weeks for us. Switching the cache around works every time to bring back the Yelp information been doing this since the problem started in my first post above. Sometimes I have to switch the cache around three times to get it to come back.

the only reason I use this App is it allows me to minimize the information so that it blends into my sites footer very nicely. I have no problem paying 50 bucks once for a license if this is guaranteed to fix this issue.
