When I switched to (a child theme of) WP-Forge for my photoblog, I noticed that the YARPP thumbnails under each individual post suddenly looked really weird! (See a screenshot here.) YARPP gives you three options for displaying related links: List, Thumbnails, & Custom PHP – and this happens when using it’s built-in Thumbnails view. It’s always displayed correctly on other themes I’ve used it on…

I finally got around the problem by making my own template to use with the “Custom PHP” setting – A quick & dirty fix using a Table that I should probably re-do in pure CSS, but it works and still seems nicely responsive.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this odd behavior with the default thumbnails setting, and if maybe there was a clash between Class or ID names with WP-Forge? YARPP is extremely popular, after all…

    Hey there,

it very well maybe a conflict somewhere, somehow, someway. Unfortunately, I can’t test WP-Forge against plugins, no matter how popular they are.

However most issues that people have had with plugins not working properly with WP-Forge have found that the plugin themselves are the ones causing the issue.

If I get some time I may look into it, however I do not make any guarantees but I will do my best to have a look.

Thanks for the reply. I realize that testing against plugins would be worse than herding cats. (Over 40,000 of them!)

I mostly posted in case anyone else was seeing this behavior, and if so, to let them know that using the Custom Template option could fix the problem – and may even be preferable since it would give them even more control over the layout and display.

So if anybody wants, I’ll be glad to share the template I made or help them make their own…

Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

You know I was thinking of this as I was driving to work and I just realized that I will be using the plugin for a theme I am currently working on.

If you look on my site I did a post about the theme, it’s called Ingelwood.

It never clicked in my mind yesterday that it was the one I was planning on incorporating into the theme…lol

So I will be taking a look into it once I get to that portion. My apologies for having a derpie derp moment.

As soon as I figure out what it maybe, I will def post my findings here for everyone.

Again sorry for the senior moment ??

I’m feeling a little senior myself… After trying various tricks that were OK except on really small screens – I found the answer staring back at me from the Foundation docs. Try using their “Block Grid” class if you need YARPP thumbnails that behave nicely at palm size.

    Hey Mark,

That’s a good solution. I haven’t had the chance to look into the plugin for the new theme but is coming.

I’ll try your idea and if it works good it’ll be part of the new theme guaranteed ??

Thanks again amigo, it’s greatly appreciated.
