I am hosted with godaddy. I use Postman SMTP and gmail servers to relay emails. It has been relaying emails without any glitches (using port 25) for the last couple of weeks. But on the 22nd and the 23rd of October, 2015 the emails were not being relayed with the error message “XOAUTH2 authentication mechanism not supported” being displayed for port 25 when I ran the connectivity test. Strangely, it started functioning fine on its own from yesterday and I have not had any troubles till now (I did not make any changes to the website nor call godaddy for help).

It looks to me that was a temporary glitch with godaddy blocking port 25 for some reason. But just wanted to check to see if the plugin could have been the culprit. Your thoughts Jason?

AFAIK, ports 25, 465 and 587 are never open to Google from GoDaddy.

The Gmail API was implemented in Postman specifically as a solution for GoDaddy-hosted websites.

I don’t know why your GoDaddy site works differently from the norm, but I recommend switching to the Gmail API to avoid future problems.

Question: do you have Remote Mail Exchangers enabled in your cPanel?

Ah OK. Not sure myself. Could it be different in India (at least for now till godaddy ends up blocking the port permanently). So, to use Gmail API, I just need to change the transport to “Gmail API” from “SMTP” and save the changes right?

Sorry. Missed your question on the remote mail exchanger being enabled in my cPanel. If it is of any help, I have enabled local mail exchanger.

Ok. I was wondering if GoDaddy was forwarding your port externally because of that setting but obviously not. They just haven’t firewalled you permanently.

    Lucky you!

Has been fine for the past 2 weeks. Yesterday, all of a sudden, I start getting the XOAUTH2 authentication mechanism not supported error message when trying to email a form from our website to our call center. Any ideas where to check?

Switching to gmail API resolved my issue.
