Is it good idea to enter xmlrpc.php in Wordfence field “Immediately block IPs that access these URLs”? Maybe this could block unnecessary logins. But does it prevent normal plugin updates etc?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @artcre,

You may have some plugins that use xmlrpc.php, so Wordfence might accidentally block your IP address.

If you want to block unnecessary logins, I can suggest adjusting these settings:

    – Decrease Lock out after how many login failures
    – Decrease Lock out after how many forgot password attempts
    – Increase Count failures over what time period
    – Increase Amount of time a user is locked out
    – Enable Immediately lock out invalid usernames
    – Set common usernames for Immediately block the IP of users who try to sign in as these usernames

This can be found under the Brute Force section of Wordfence -> All Options.

    Dave
