XML import doesn’t keep author

  • I need to import content from blogger to wordpress. If I import it directly, the HTML formatting gets lost. So I import it into a wordpress.com blog, export it as XML and import it into my new wordpress blog. This saves the formatting and images.

    BUT, I would like to keep the authors from the blogger account and that doesn’t work if I import as XML.

    Anybody has a solution for this?

  • This issue may be moot now as it’s been so long but we had the same problem. The solution was to edit the /wp-admin/import/rss.php script at line 94 with the Id of the author from the wp_users table.
    Example:
    $post_author = 94;
