• Yesterday I successfully installed WordPress on my computer’s hard drive. However, when I tried to login today, I couldn’t. I don’t know if this matters, but I shut the computer down overnight.

Today I deleted Xampp and started the installation all over again. Right now I am able to login but I’m worried that if I shut my computer down again, I won’t be able to access WordPress tomorrow.

Here is what I noticed happened during my re-install process: On the XAMPP Control Panel window (where you start apache and MySql) it had a note which read “Warning: Directory Mismatch.” This was also the case yesterday during my previous installation. Could this be the problem, or was it something else.

I don’t want to do much work on my proposed site if I’m going to lose it again for tomorrow.

    Thanks for the help
    Dan

  • shutting down should not affect anything
I’ve done several local installs and never have seen that error – doesn’t sound good. :>)

I just did a restart on my computer and the same thing happened. I cannot access localhost/wordpress nor login. So I won’t re-install again unless I can get a solution to the problem.
