I have inherited a site previously installed with Wordfence.

I have a setting embedded somewhere

    X-Backend-Server

which, because it is no longer at the same hosting location, stops wordfence from being able to scan.

I have trawled wordpress source (including .htaccess) and the database and I cannot see where this setting is being stored so that I can change it. It is also showing the wrong IP in tools/diagnostics.

    Also REMOTE_ADDR is not correct.

can anyone please shed any light on where I should look ?

    many thanks

    Jon

    Hi all,

I realise that REMOTE_ADDR is of no relevance to the problem that I am finding.

Wordfence reports IP(s) used by this server as

    a) a local address that my server is on the LAN
    b) an IP address which is the IP that the website used to be hosted on.

Does anyone know, does Wordfence use DNS to resolve this IP in the Diagnostics page?

    thanks

    Hi Jon,

I’m not really sure how you concluded that missing the “X-Backend-Server” header is responsible for the broken scan? did you get any related error message? the scan might not be working as it should because of any of these issues.

For the second issue regarding the option “How does Wordfence get IPs“, may I now the value you chose for this option? also, please share a screenshot showing “IP Detection” section in the “Diagnostics” page under (Wordfence > Tools)?

    Thanks.

    Hi!
Since we haven’t heard back from you for a while I’m going to resolve this thread. If you have any other issues later on, please feel free to start a new one at any time. Thank you!
