• Hello

I recently installed WordPress on my own computer. However I noticed that I cannot get any Wysiwyg editor working, and instead have to click the “HTML” tab when creating a new post.

I have tried the default editor, CKEditor plugin, Easy Wysiwyg Style, and FolioPress Wysiwyg. However none of these solved the problem, and in fact some of them prevented me from clicking the HTML tab, making it impossible to post altogether.

On the page, I see the box where I would normally type out the post, but it has none of the buttons that it should have and I cannot enter text into it.

I’ve looked around, but haven’t found a fix for this. Other reported text being invisible, but not the whole editor not appearing.

    Any solutions?

  • Hi anon5500,

Can you try to visit Users > Your profile on your wordpress dashboard and see if the top option is checked? That should be Labeled as “Visual Editor”

If it is, you’ll simply have to uncheck it. Also, make sure that javascript isn’t disabled/deactivated on your browser.

Please let us know how it goes. Thank you!

Hi wpjopress, thank you for your reply.

I did as you recommended, and found that “Disable the visual editor” was unchecked. Checking it makes the “visual” tab not appear when making a post.

Normally the “visual” tab is there when posting but does not display any of the buttons or allow me to type in the box. Javascript is currently enabled in my browser.
