• Hi, there. I searched the forums and see that the WYSIWYG toolbar has randomly disappeared for others. They were advised to check the ‘Use the visual editor when writing’ box in their profile. Problem is, that box IS checked in my profile.

    Any other ideas?

For background: I have the YAPB plug-in installed. I deactivated it to see if that would fix it, but it did not.

    Thanks!

  • I just upgraded my blog to 2.3.3 and the WYSIWYG editor disappeared as well.

I also tried to check the ‘Use the visual editor when writing’ box in their profile. Problem is, that box IS checked in my profile TOO! I even unchecked it, then rechecked it and updated, to no avail.

    Help!

    iancube, upgraded from what?

Based on what I see in Google when I search for your domain name, you had issues with missing files.

Are you sure that you uploaded all of the files that are necessary for tinymc? I’ll bet you didnt.

    Hi Whooami,

I believe I upgraded from 2.2. I simply used DreamHost.com’s one-click robot to upgrade to the latest version. It emailed me saying everything was successful but I may need to update some tables within WP.

I haven’t had this issue in the past when upgrading through DreamHost, nor have I installed any new plugins, any ideas on what I should try?

sure, i would click on the download link at the top of this page, grap a copy of the 2.3.3 zip, extract it using winzip or whatever you use. FTP into your site, navigate to wp-includes/js/tinymc on your site and inside the folder of WP that you just created when you extracted the zip, and make sure that all the files match.

    tinymc is mess of files.

It’d be helpful if you could tell me what files should be where. I’m looking at the tinymc directory now, along with the extracted zip folder, but I don’t have a way of knowing what should be wear.

    Thanks

i cant possibly tell you what goes where; I just told you that its a mess of files.

    tinymc is OVER 160 files.

IF you extract the files from the zip correctly, they will extract into the directories they belong in.

I also lost the Visual Editor in Write Post after upgrading to 2.33. I unchecked and checked again Use Visual Editor in my profile and nothing changes. There are still two tabs on the Write post text screen to show “Code” on one and just “Visual” formatting on another. Checking either tab has no effect.

One other thing in 2.33 that stopped working was my link from Windows Live Writer. That product claims it gets incorrect information from the blog and disallows all posts so now I write off line and copy and paste into the WordPress screen.

My upgrade was done using the Automatic Upgrade plugin.

Is the fix to download 2.33 again and upload files using FTP in case there was corruption in the upgrade? Since 2.5 is right around the corner shall I just chill until then?

Follow up: I appear to have all of the required files in the TINYMC directories.

    I’m in the same trouble.

I check and uncheck that think on my profile … and I tested on my own PC, creating a web server with PHP and MySQL, unziping the WordPress and making a new blog on my local web server… and it works fine, with WYSIWYG editor…

I’m thinking about it and … would it be a PHP memory-limits issue on the web-servers?

I replaced the tinymc files with a new upload. No change.

Lk2 I’m hosted at Network Solutions. My blog has always been very slow here. If I had the time I’d move it and my Ultimate BB to another host. Anything is possible. from Gamerz WP-Serverinfo:

Server Document Root PHP Memory Limit 32M
Server Admin PHP Max Upload Size 5M
Server Load 3.31 PHP Max Post Size 8M
Server Date/Time Sunday, 2nd March 2008, 12:10 PHP Max Script Execute Time 300s

    Does this give “memory” details?

popwireless I don’t know if it is really related to a server memory problem… it’s only a hypothesis.

My server is aruba and, with version 2.3.2 and 2.3 the wysiwyg works fine, but not with 2.3.1 or 2.3.3 …
