I have next to the latest version of WP (the one before 2.8.1). The box “Disable the visual editor when writing” is not checked in my user settings. Why won’t the WISIWIG buttons show up for the “Visual” editor?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

renaming the plugins folder via FTP

No, I haven’t tried any of those suggestions. I’ll give them a try.

Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks Esmi. Renaming the plugins folder is what did it!

I spoke too soon! The Visual Editor is working for Admin but not for the other 2 Users (both “Editor” role). Still showing the white in text area and no toolbar. Strange….!!!! What could this be???

Wait…..strange but deleting the cache worked!! Now visual editor is working for users and admin.
