    Hello there,

We have discovered an issue whereby any postcode entered returns a notification (www.websitename.com says The postcode supplied is invalid)

The test postcodes are working fine though.

The plugin, WP, WooCommerce and all other plugins are up to date.

    Can you help please?

    Best regards
    Warren

This is (in every report I’ve seen so far, at least) because the API key is no longer valid – confusingly, getAddress.io ignores this for the test postcodes.

If you can send me your API key privately (gazchap at gmail dot com) I can confirm this, and if it is not the case I can look into it further.

    Thanks,
    Gareth.

    Hi Gareth,

Great thanks for that, I just emailed you.

This was indeed an expired key. getAddress.io don’t make their terms particularly clear for the free plan, I may add in a check to the plugin for this as it’s such a common issue.

For now, the resolution is to create a new free API key, or sign up to a paid plan and get a new API key that way.

    Hi Gareth,
    That’s great, all sorted now!
    Thanks

Just to add to this thread for anyone else that comes across it (and I’m going to add something to the plugin documentation too) – with the free plan on getAddress.io, the API key expires every 30 days and you need to request an extension by emailing getAddress.io themselves.

I assume this manual action (and the inconvenience of it!) is designed to push you towards their cheaper paid plan (currently £2 per month) and also likely to prevent long-term abuse of the API.
