Hello. I’m kind of new to WordPress. My webhost (Bluehost) helped me set up my site so that the URL showed as [ redundant link removed ]. It was like that for the last couple of weeks. But, as of today, it is now showing as just.
I wonder if the reason why this happened is because I tried to register my site with Google Search. It gives the option of registering just by (A) Domain or by (B) URL. Everyone seemed to be recommending (A), so I tried to register that way two days ago. But (just to complicate things) Google Search still can’t verify my domain. And every time I try, it offers me a new verification code. So….
    (1) Is the change of my URL linked to my attempted Google Search registration?
    (2) Is it really better to register with Google Search just by Domain?
    (3) Isn’t it better if my site shows the full URL
    Any advice gratefully received.

  • Your URL hasn’t changed. It’s still https://www.christmascantata.com, and that’s what I see. What you seem to be experiencing is a change in the latest version of Chrome. Google, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to hide www and http/s from the browser address bar. Lifehacker wrote up the change here. I believe that by default Safari does something similar.

As to your issues with verification, I’ll leave that for someone more knowledgable on the topic, but I’m almost certain that it’s unrelated to this www issue you’re experiencing, which is likely caused by what I described above.

Thanks, Jacob. I think I noticed the same thing since I posted. I saw that https://www.www.remarpro.com was now showing without www. And a couple of other sites too. So thanks for the explanation.
