• I am sorry to all the people who worked/are working really hard on Gutenberg, but I don’t get it. I don’t get how so many talented people could make something so awful and be excited about it. Every time I use it I am flabbergasted that someone thought this was a good solution.

I have heard people praise it for its improvements over the legacy editor, and for its future potential. I don’t see it. It feels like its 10 years behind the curve.

Just take one example: the Media & Text block. Someone decided that text inside this block should have 8% padding. Why 8%? Why not 7%? why not 9%? And there’s no setting to change this. Then take the image. It’s aligned to the left with no setting to change this. What if I want the image centered or aligned to the right?

Fortunately I can drag the image to be wider or narrower to adjust the 50/50 split of the 2 sides to be something other than 50/50, but does it tell me if I’ve hit a certain width, like 60/40? No. I guess you just eyeball it? This thing is a joke. Who uses it?

I see it stacks vertically on phone…but not on tablet, with no setting to change this either! So it looks like crap on a tablet.

Yes I can fix all this with CSS. That’s not the point. I know how to write css, but most people using WordPress don’t. I thought the whole idea of a drag/drop page builder was to enable people who don’t know html/css to more easily build their pages?

Am I missing something here? Do people actually use and like Gutenberg? I don’t get it. Someone please help me understand
