• Hi,

I developed a new theme using WP Theme Test. A great help!

But when I was ready, I turned off WP Theme Test (“Current State: off”), and switched to the new theme. All of the widgets areas I developed in the new theme are showing as inactive, and the widget areas from the old theme, which should be inactive, are still active and filled with the old (wrong) widgets.

    What can I do?

Well, I ended up re-creating the items in the new theme’s widget areas, dragging them one-by-one to and from the “Inactive Sidebar”s into the newly empty widget areas.

So my problem was worked around, but if there is an automatic, programmatic fix for this, I’d like to know about it, and if not, then this is a suggestion for a future improvement to this plugin.

Also, until this gets “fixed”, anyone using this plugin (which I like!) should take screenshots of their “Widgets” screens (Appearance > Widgets) in both their original theme, and again while they are testing their new theme, to see which widgets belong where. Once you go live with the new theme, you may find that ALL of your widgets from BOTH themes are active, or that NONE are active, and you can use the screenshots to help you move them into their correct final position.
