    Hi there,

At some point, Yoast premium was added to my site instead of the regular free Yoast plugin. I have no subscription to Yoast Premium so i haven’t been getting plugin updates and it appears my meta descriptions are not being pulled, either. How do i convert to the regular, free, Yoast plugin?

If I need to delete the Premium Plugin and upload the regular one, how do I save all my Meta descriptions from the current plugin so they will not be lost?

I have been in contact with your support team, but they have not been able to help, only telling me I don’t have a premium subscription, which I know!!

    Thanks
    Ellie

  • Hi Ellie,

Switching from Yoast Premium to Yoast SEO
The Yoast SEO settings are stored in the database. As they are two separate plugins, you can switch to the free version with the following steps:

    – Deactivate premium version
    – Install and activate free version
    – Uninstall premium version

    Wrong meta description
Is Yoast outputting the correct meta description in the source code? Sometimes Google will change the meta description and title for one it deems more fitting. To resolve the issue, we suggest:
    1. Improving the meta description. Google sometimes changes the meta description to be more descriptive and to help users when they search. This guide explains more: Google shows different metas for my site. You can learn more about improving them with this guide: SEO Meta Descriptions
    2. Use the Fetch as Googlebot Tool to encourage Google to reindex the page and update the search results accordingly. Check in Google to see if the right one then appears. You may need to run Fetch as GoogleBot a couple times.
    3. Contact Google by creating a post on their forum to ask why Googlebot is changing the meta description.

We hope this helps and let us know if you have any questions.

    Closed. No further questions.
