    Hi,

I have searched the forum and read the FAQ and found no cure for my login problem.

It’s a fresh install. My blog is hosted by a hosting company and the installation was made through Fantastico. The instalation reported no errors; however, I cannot login with the username/pass pair I entered during installation. The error message says: Wrong username. Trying to recover from the situation, I reset the password in the database (phpMyAdmin) where only one username is listed. Did not help.

Otherwise WP seems perfectly functional. It can connect to the database, I can add comments, moderation requests arrive in my mailbox.

    I’d appreciate any pointers.

    My site details:

  • Try deleting the contents of /wp-content/cache then trying the new user / password ?

Thanks. Did not help. Removed the installation using Fantastico and re-installed it by hand. It works now. Cheers.

hi cant able to login in my blog, its say wrong user name…
i want to solve this problem. any one help me….

I too am experiencing this problem. I went to my site yesterday and it said it wasn’t configured and to do the install steps (weird, because only hours before it was there…). I figured my host must have done something, as this type of thing has happened before. I checked the forums and someone had a similar situation and suggested performing an upgrade (cured their problem). I upgraded and the site returned just fine except now I cannot login. I poked around in my database and it appears that there is no user (if that is possible). Is there away I can check this for sure or create a new user?

look under the myphpadmin section near top left.

I installed 2.0.2 by hand a few days ago, and yesterday it was working fine. Then this morning when I tried to log in, I got the “Wrong username” error. It seems to be a Firefox problem, because I can still log in through Internet Explorer. I tried resetting the password and clearing out wp-content/cache, but neither made any difference. My other blogs (which are running on 2.0 or 2.0.1) are still working fine, so I suspect this is a bug in 2.0.2.

    Hi,
I looked under the wp_users in myphpadmin and there are no records to browse. Can I click on insert and create a new record? Do I have to fill out all fields? Just ascii and “value”?
    Thanks in advance

No user is very very odd.
    Can you register?
What happens if you use the Lost Password feature?

Nothing happens. No email in user to send to. I created a record and added email, user, pass, etc., but I am just guessing… still not working.

Wait, I just was able to get it to send a new password to the new email, but now it says I don’t have suffient permissions to access page… almost there.

Something to do with “user_activation_key” or “user_status”?

Fixed it with the force-upgrade script.

    crowderb,
This is not a bug in 2.0.2. Most users here use FF and have no problem logging in.
Perhaps an extension in FF you’ve installed conflicting?

I tried it on another computer with Firefox (with no extensions installed) and instead of bringing up the red error box, it just went straight back to the login page (i.e., no visible feedback other than the postback). And it works fine with Internet Explorer on that computer as well.

The weird thing is that it *was* working the day before, and, without my changing anything, it stopped working. I changed the theme but it didn’t make a difference.

Any ideas? (And let me just say that I absolutely love WordPress and have been extolling its virtues to everyone I know. Even if this does happen to be a bug, I’ll still love WordPress just as much as ever. It’s good software — like the thing at the bottom of the page says, it’s poetry. :))

    Hey everyone….
i cant able to login in my blog.. it says wrong username.. anyone give me a solution for this…

    thanks in advance..
