Wrong username as a post author

  • Hello,

    i have many blogs where other people are allowed to create new accounts with role “Author”, so they can publish their articles without my approval.

    The problem what arrised is that when i add post as an Admin, its assigned to a newest user (instead of me – admin). Is there any simple fix, i have tens of blogs so any complicated is out of reach for me.

    My WordPresses versions are 2.9.2

    Is it a bug?

    I have many new authors comming so its impossible for me to do some routine everytime anyone join my blogs. What i can do is to create my separate account for posting when necessary. When trying to change Article Author by editing article, i can only choose from Author roles, not my admin account. Thank you for advices..

    Here is the simple fix for resetting your admin user (thanks @esmi)

    1. Set up a new, temporary, Admin user and make a note of the new username and password.
    2. Log out
    3. Log back in again as the new user.
    4. Navigate to Users and select your old Admin profile.
    5. Reduce your old profile down to Subscriber and save the new settings.
    6. Update your old profile back to Admin again and save the new settings.
    7. Log out
    8. Log back in again using your old Admin username.
    9. Check that you can now see your name in the Author dropdown in Add/Edit Posts.
    10. If all is well, delete the temporary Admin user. You no longer need it.

    Regarding me, this procedure is too complicated as i have more than half hundred weblogs all same issue. Im thinking about fast creating a new Author accounts on all blogs and everytime i will post some article as an admin i will contribute it to my secondary account. (im not posting frequently).

    Is it good idea, any better please?
