    Hi,

    Understood from the forum that,

The priority that is used for the social preview image is the following:

? If there is no image set for the Yoast meta box for Facebook, it will use the post’s featured image
? If there’s no featured image in the post, it uses the default image set in SEO > Social > Facebook
? If there’s no default image set, it will use one of the images from the post itself`

However, it is not the case for me. Notice that some of my product links (randomly tested) just show another image other than the ones mentioned above. Which means it shows another image totally outside of the product link!

FYI, my site has a lot of products. I couldn’t assign manually the Yoast meta box for Facebook for each product. Also I do not set default image in SEO > Social > Facebook. Showing one of the images from the post itself (3rd priority) is good enough for me.

    My site:

    Wordpress 5.7.1
    WooCommerce 5.2.2
    Yoast SEO 16.2

    Can you help?

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Best regards,
    KE

    Hello!

You may need to update first Facebook’s cache of that page. Have you done that already? If not, go to the Facebook debug tool, enter the URL you wish to update, debug and click scrape again. You may need to click “Scrape Again” a few times.

If the issue persists, please provide us a screenshot of the result you’re getting on Facebook, as well as the image you’re expecting to see.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi,

I have clicked “Scrape Again” more than a few times & no luck with that.

Please look at the screenshot of the Facebook debug tool,

    Note:
This is one of the sample product link I noticed with problem. I think I have quite a lot of them.

Any advice from your side? Hope to hear from you soon!

    Thanks for the screenshots.

For https://www.bunga2u.com/shop/others/box-in-love/, the og:image in the page source and shown in Facebook Sharing Debugger is https://www.bunga2u.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/21-2.jpg, though you mentioned that you expected https://www.bunga2u.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/22-2.jpg.

To clarify, do you mean that:

    1. No image is set in the Yoast meta box for Facebook
    2. No image is set as a featured image for the product
    3. No image is set in SEO > Social > Facebook

As such, you want to use one of the images from the post/product itself?

    Hi,

    1. No image is set in the Yoast meta box for Facebook – Yes
    3. No image is set in SEO > Social > Facebook – Yes

    2. No image is set as a featured image for the product

There is an image inside the product, screenshot as below. I though this is also considered as featured image, correct me if I were wrong.

Yes, I want to use the image from the product itself. In fact, there is only one image in this product link.

Just wondering why it shows a completely different image from another product instead of the one in the product link itself.

    Please advise.

Thanks for the feedback. So we tested your scenario; we didn’t set any images except the product/featured image. Interestingly, the og:image is correct, picking what was set as the product image, the same thing you did. It is strange that in your case, an image not on that page is being pulled. We suspect there is an issue with our indexable feature.
    1. If you look in the database for the table: wp_yoast_indexable and scroll to find the columns: open_graph_image, open_graph_image_source and open_graph_image_meta, are the data in those fields shown as expected?

    2. Can you please try resetting our indexables in the database tables by following the steps below?:

–Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
–Go to Tools > Yoast Test
–Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations’, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation’, and ‘Reset Internal link counter’ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that each reset was successful.
Note: this won’t actually erase your SEO data, which is also stored in WordPress’ default tables. It’ll just reset our index (custom tables) for that data.
–Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating, or removing plugins. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

-Can I test it at the staging site instead?

If you’re not familiar with how to troubleshoot the issue, it’s better to ignore the option to looking into the database directly by yourself. If you’d still like to try, you can have a staging site so that you can try it yourself by using the PhpMyAdmin or something else that allows you to browse through your database.

That said, the steps we provided on #2 can be performed on the production website as well. You can follow the relevant steps to reset the Yoast SEO Indexables to see whether this resolves the issue for you.

    Hi,

#2 seems to resolve my issue. So I guess I could uninstall the Yoast Test Helper plugin after this?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Thanks for your confirmation. If the issue is now resolved, you are free to remove the Yoast Test Helper plugin!
