  • This is being pulled from your favicon using the <link> tag:
    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/appearance/favicon-in-search

    Which you can generate here:

Actually, the link tags on your site point to the right file, however, the favicon.ico file on your server (the one Google used) remains the default icon for the site for apps not sophisticated enough to properly read the link tag.

@corrinarusso @bcworkz Thank you both for your answers.

@bcworkz What should I do to change it and put my icon, can you help me.

Use FTP or your hosting account file manager to copy the file at wp-content/uploads/2021/09/favicon-1.ico to the site’s public root folder (where there’s already a favicon.ico file). Rename the current favicon.ico file to something like favicon.ico.old (or delete it if you’re sure it’s of no use to you). Rename the favicon-1.ico file you just copied to favicon.ico.

It may take a while for Google to update their cache of icon files, but it’ll happen sooner or later.

@bcworkz Ok thank you I did it now I am waiting google to crawl my page and change the icon.

markos2010 — I believe if you went into Google Search Console and deleted your sitemap reference, then re-submitted the same file for review, that it might hasten the favicon refresh. No guarantee, but it’s easy enough to try anyway.

@bcworkz I made all the above, I recrawl my website I delete the sitemaps and I re-submitted them again and I submit recrawl again and nothing, the same icon is shown from smartphone.

It’s on Google at this point. You certainly setup the correct file, it appears in my browser tab. It used to show the same “pause” icon Google does. It’s one of those unsophisticated apps that doesn’t properly read link tag references. Refreshing Google’s cache of icon files is obviously a very low priority. You could try asking for further suggestions in a forum focused on Google search issues.

This actually isn’t even a WordPress issue. This does not mean we don’t want to try to help where we can, but Google Search topics are a little outside of our real expertise.
