    Hello,

I noticed that when users check out via PayPal, the correct shipping costs are sent to PayPal. However, if the shipping address is changed in the PayPal window (for example to another country where the shipping costs are actually higher) the shipping fee will not be recalculated. The customer can check out with the low (wrong) shipping costs.

That can’t be right, can it?

I have set up the shipping costs normally via the shipping zones.

    Many greetings
    Robert

    Hey there!

It sounds like you are using the PayPal shipping, setup in PayPal, instead of only using WooCommerce shipping, like it should be. Turn off shipping calculations in PayPal, and you should see no further issues, as the shipping calculations will all happen on your site, as it should.

    Hey,

PayPal Shipping? I do not see any function of this kind. Where do I set this?

Hi @robbsen1987 – I think we may just be a little confused. Are you stating that if a customer enters an address that results in cheaper shipping in WooCommerce, then changes the address in the PayPal Checkout modal, they are able to complete checkout with the cheaper shipping even if the new address should have resulted in higher shipping charges?

    Hey,

This is exactly the problem. If a customer enters a German address in the Woocommerce Checkout and then changes the delivery address in PayPal modal to a foreign address, the shipping costs for Germany will still be charged.

Hi @robbsen1987 – Have you tested this on your site? I’ve tried duplicating, but PayPal doesn’t allow me to change the shipping address in the modal. If possible, can you send us the following?

    – Your site’s SSR. You can find that at: WP Dashboard > WooCommerce > Status > ‘Get system report’

    – A screenshot of the modal where it lets you change the shipping address.

I recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in this thread. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

    Thanks!

    Hey,

you can easily change your address in PayPal, see screenshots Here I simply changed from my german address to a swiss address. This should change the shipping costs in any case.

I can block that this change can be made. But actually this is a reasonable action. If the shipping costs would also change.

My SSR I can’t post here. Do you have a Mailadresse for me to send it?

We don’t have an email you can send this to, no.

Is PayPal not sending the proper address back to you? The flow should be:

    1. The customer ends up on your cart page.
    2. The calculations they do here for shipping are irrelevant if they choose PayPal Checkout.
    3. They go to PayPal and choose their shipping address and payment method. PayPal tells them the default (first place) shipping method that their address would qualify for.
    4. They go to a confirm order page on your site with their address they selected in PayPal, which means the address is not changeable. They can change the method (select free shipping, expedited, etc.)

If they change their address at PayPal, they cannot change it back once they get to your site to scam you for a lower payment.

Here’s the “confirm your order page” on my test site for reference:

    Hey,

    my worfklow looks different.

    1. Customer ends up on our cart page 1 (Address with shipping method for their address)
    2. Customer goes to page 2 (payment)
    3. Customer clicks on PayPal
    3. Customer clicks on “Buy now” (before that he has to accept the GTCS, there is no more order confirmation site.)
    4. Customer is directed to PayPal and completes the payment, after that only an order overview is displayed.

I have activated the setting “skip order review page”. Probably this is the reason or?

The problem is that for GDPR reasons we are advised to clearly separate payment from order.

    Hi @robbsen1987 ,

It sounds like there may be a custom setup and it’s possible the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Payment Gateway plugin isn’t involved in this process.

Can you share some more data here?

First, share that System Status Report. If you enclose it tick marks or use the CODE button on the editor it should allow it to be posted.

    Addind code to post

Also, please share a screenshot of that “skip order review page” setting, as I’m not familiar with that setting and it may be coming from another plugin.

Can you capture a screencast of the whole checkout process? If you have a way of capturing an animation/video of the process, you can upload it to your media library, and share the URL to your image, or use a service like Dropbox, Snipboard.io, Droplr, or CloudApp and then share the image link from that service with us. If you can’t capture a screencast, individual screenshots of each step above will help.

Finally, please share screenshots of the settings under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal Checkout.

    Thanks!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread ??

    Cheers,
