wrong redirection to 404

    Hi!
    I have created another directory on my domain and at first I was able to access it, but when I password protected it I am unable to access it at all because i get redirected to a wp 404. the folder is named down and I have a page in the blog named downloads. Does that matter?
    hee’s the directory I am trying to access https://www.pcgamerplace.com/down
    and it redirects to https://www.pcgamerplace.com/downloads/
    Please help.

    Interesting. I have a page named about, and when I tried the following (note the missing t):

    https://example.com/abou

    WordPress redirected it to:

    https://example.com/about/

    So I’m assuming that it does matter.

    I’m not exactly sure what is going on here, but it seems very much like a .htaccess problem. Likely your password protection invoked that problem, too. You can try changing your permalinks and see if that fixes it, or rename your .htaccess temporarily to confirm if it is a problem in that file.

    I ended up changing the name of the folder. That worked fine.
