WP admin > settings > permalinks > if you use the default option for postname, the value in the settings looks like this /%postname%/ see it has a trailing slash, so your post/page urls will look something like somewebsite.com/hello-world/

But I see that when I have this settings for permalinks (postname only) then the easy affiliate links somwebsitecom/goto/xyz/ does not work, and results in an Oops! Page not found 404 default WP error….

The only way I can get the easy affiliate link to work is if we remove the trailing slash in the permalink postname setting so it looks like /%postname%

And then if we refresh the easy affilate link manage links we see the affliate link url has changed to somewebsite.com/goto/xyz (no trailing slash)

And the affiliate link now behaves as desired and re-directs to the target URL.

Is the plugin developer aware of this issue and do you have any advice or documentation regarding this?

    Great plugin! – thanks

That’s not normal behaviour. It should work fine with or without a trailing slash.

It could be some kind of compatibility problem. Could you try using the Health Check plugin to test? We have a video in our documentation showing you exactly how to do that: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/108-debugging-plugin-problems

Specifically the compatibility mode shown in the video where it basically tests a default theme and no other plugins active.

Thanks for quick reply. I will try the health check plugin but I think it’s related to Rankmath SEO plugin. I deactivated Rankmath, and easy affiliate links all redirect fine to desired target URLs. And, after re-activating Rankmath, the redirect to target URLs continues to work. So maybe just de-activating & re-activating Rankmath plugin is the solution. I did not have Rankmath “redirection” enabled either.

I recommend you test it on your testing site and see what I mean w/ Rankmath plugin.

Happy to hear it’s working now! Not sure what went wrong there, will do some testing to see if this is a general problem with RankMath.

Just let me know if you experience any further issues at all!
