We have a product that is 300 grams, is 14cm long, 7cm wide and 6cm deep.

When ordering it gives the option of Signed for 1st class £4.05 or Signed for 2nd Class £3.55

    These prices are are for a Large Letter: Max L: 35.3cm x Max W: 25cm x Max D: 2.5cm

As you can see the product is 6cm deep and the max large letter depth is 2.5cm, so it should not be choosing Large Letter up to 500g but a small parcel up to 2kg instead.

Is this a bug or is there anything we can do? We have about 8 products this size and so the delivery charges will be wrong each time they are ordered.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

in the free version, the package dimensions are always taken from the shipping method settings. The packing algorithm will be added in the PRO version.

    Kind regards

‘The package dimensions are always taken from the shipping method settings’

Sorry I don’t understand. On checking other products it looks like the shipping is decided purely on the weight of the product or the inputted default weight if no weight is added to the product and therefore the dimensions are irrelevant. Is this correct?

When is the pro version coming out?

The weight is taken from the contents of the cart / package. If the products do not have an assigned weight, the default weight defined in the shipping method settings is used.

Shipment dimensions are defined in the shipping method settings, they are not calculated from the contents of the cart / package.

Dimensions: That’s fine if all your products are the same size but ours are all different so you can’t have a standard size, so it doesn’t really work for us.

    Hi @3bsstudio,

I believe that the packing algorithm which will be implemented in the plugin’s PRO version as @grola mentioned previously should do the job in your case. It will allow to choose the Royal Mail standard packagings or define your own custom boxes which should be used for fitting and shipping the ordered products. Once the products are checked and fit to the most optimal boxes’ setup the plugin will calculate the proper shipping rates.

Unfortunately, according to wp.org ToS, this forum is dedicated only to the Royal Mail Live Rates plugin free version and we are not supposed to discuss the PRO features here. If you are interested in Royal Mail Live Rates PRO version, please contact us directly at https://octolize.com/support/ or sign up for Royal Mail Live Rates PRO to stay up to date and be notified as soon as it is released.

    Kind regards,

Since there are no further inquiries concerning this case I’m marking this thread as resolved.

    Kind regards,
    Luke
