Wrong names being displayed

  • Hi, hope you are well.

    I just noticed something very odd. The plugin is displaying the wrong name for some posts (not all). It puts my name (admin) in place of the real authors. The names and author bxoes in the post itself are fine.

    On the homepage sidebar, check the “Most Read” section, the “The U.S. vs China in Africa: A Quest for Economic Domination” paper is authored by someone named Waleed Yawer, but it shows my name. I have tried removing and adding the name and even changing the author itself, but the issue remains. The “Fueling Secterian Violence…” post is also by someone else but it says my name.

    Please help.

    Hi, I found the issue but of course I cannot resolve it myself. Maybe you can. I have a guest authors plugin installed that lets me add guest authors. I did not like the way wordpress makes us add emails for every author/admin/seo editor etc and basically creates an account for them. And since I have many guest bloggers/authors on my website, I needed an easier mechanism to add them. These guest authors obviously do not need an account on my site, so, therefore, I installed the popular plugin titled “Guest Authors” by Webfactory.

    Unfortunately, I just noticed that all authors that i have added using the guest authors method, do not seem to get picked up as authors by your plugin. Everywhere else they get displayed as if they were regular authors but on Top 10 plugin, it shows the admin. For the other users who have been added using the normal wordpress account method, the top 10 plugin works fine of course.

    Could you help me out with this?

    I’m afraid this goes well out of the scope of what my plugin can do.

    One option is to add a function called tptn_author to filter:

    You’ll need to find out from the plugin author how you could get the guest author for a particular post.

    Thanks for replying. And yeah this might be helpful. That plugins support is dead unfortunately.I will try to figure something out.
