Wrong language of complianz

  • Hello. I have installed the wordpress in Slovak language. Then I have installed the WPML and leave two languages only – English and German (No Slovak). So the basic language is set to ENG in WPML settings, however, when I open the page in inkognito window, I have still Slovak cookies banner. I don’t understand why.

    In WPML String translator I have available all complianz strings (about 850), the default language is set to English, but strings are slovak ??

    I know I can switch the strings via WPML to slovak and then with + button translate them manualy to english and to german.
    However it’s about 850 strings and I would like to avoid that. I wonder, if you have no translated files… how can I import them, to besafe cookie banner will be in language set by WPML current choosen language?

    This seems like a WPML configuration issue. If I understand the situation correctly, you installed both Complianz and WPML on a WordPress configuration with site language on Slovak. You then set the base language in WPML on English and added German. However, WPML has still registered the Slovak strings as source strings.

    Under WPML -> String translation you should be able to delete these strings. If you then navigate to Complianz -> cookie banner and save your setting, the strings will be registered with WPML again.

    Let us know if that works. If you need more detailed support on WPML, I would recommend reaching out to them as well. I know from experience that their support is fast and good :-).

    Hello, I have similar problem, but without translator. I have only slovak language web page, but for some reason I didnt change my backend language from english to slovak – only my language as administrator, other users are in slovak language.
    Default language for web page is and was from beginning set to slovak. I generate cookie document and banner and it is in english. I am not able to change it to slovak. I changed my backend language to slovak, uninstalled complianz and install it back, but no luck. All complianz app is now in slovak, but banner and document still in english. Any options please ?Thank you,

    Hi @clarion99,

    If your Site Language is now set to Slovak, please reset your Cookie Banner settings once under Complianz > Cookie Banner > “Reset to default”. That will reset the banner texts back to the default Slovak text. Note: this will also reset the banner styles.
