Wrong home_url value

Hello,
I’m using in my template
home_url('/');
to retrieve the homepage of my website but instead of “mywebsite.tld” it returns “mywebsite.tld/news”.I’m on WP 3.9.2 and I’ve set as my homepage a page (not the latest posts).
