• Hi,

This is my first post here. I recently setup my website Aglet Design? and everything is working fine except for the google search description which is pulling data from one of my portfolio items (I use Orman Clark’s Classica theme). I have installed All-in-One-SEO-Pack and updated the home description and other fields but google search continues to show the same info from my portfolio item. I also tried deleting this post but google mysteriously pulled this same body text which now doesn’t exist. I am also new to SEO so I have no clue if AIOSP is even working. ?? Hope someone here can help me out.

  • Seems like Google’s pulling the first header and paragraph tag it comes to, and ignoring the meta description tag. According to Google’s documentation, the description tag is only used sometimes in search results.

Probably the best thing to do would be to add an <h1> tag with your site title near the top of the page and a paragraph of descriptive text directly after it, and then hide it with CSS (using display: none;). Google should then give priority to the h1 tag and its associated content rather than the h2 tag.

Thanks for the reply kionae. I think google just takes some time to crawl and pick up the new info. My site description has now been updated. It took a couple of days for the changes to reflect! Thanks again.
