• Thanks for the great plugin! Works like a charm… until now ??

    Comparing my website using Firefox

you can see that the Raleway font has a way too lean font weight when OMGF is active. Chrome, Opera, etc. don’t have this problem.

Looks like the thin font get’s activated after the page load has been completed. I just can’t figure out what exactly is responsible for this bug.

I’m using the Divi theme, all plugins as well as WP is up-to-date. Any caching is disabled and cleared. Also checked the known issues.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi!

I’ve tried reproducing your issue, but I’m not seeing it:

    With OMGF disabled:

    With OMGF enabled:

Am I missing something? If not, it might be a browser caching issue, try visiting your website in a private window (without any other windows open) to see if that resolves the issue.

If that doesn’t resolve it, what OS are you running?

    Thanks for your reply.

    I’m on Win 8.1 using Firefox 108.0.2

This is how it looks over here:

Forgot to mention: I’ve tested this in a FF private window.

Since you’re on Windows 8.1, could it be a rendering issue in your OS? Are you running the latest drivers for your video card?

I’m on Windows 11, same Firefox version, and I’m not having any issues.

Tested it on https://www.lambdatest.com, same over there: FF + Win show thin letters, other browsers like Chrome, Edge, etc. work fine.

Video card drivers are up to date.

Interesting detail: while the page is loading in FF+Win the font is OK. At load finish (as it seems) the font gets thinned.

    Hi again,

Can you share a screenshot of the Optimize Local Fonts section in OMGF’s settings screen?

Something is off with the bold variants of Raleway. It can’t seem to render anything else, besides font-weight 300.

Okay, so that all seems okay. For the sake of testing, what happens if you preload Raleway (Load Early) 500?

    Thread Starter hermitC

    (@hermitc)

Checked box “Load Early” for “Raleyway italic 500” and “Raleyway normal 500”, saved new settings, cleared all caches and tested it in a new private FF window:

    The problem persists.

@hermitc Checking back in. Have you tried the latest release? Any changes? It includes some improvements in how OMGF handles the subsets.

    Thread Starter hermitC

    (@hermitc)

All plugins updated, all caches cleared and fired up a private FF window: the problem is still there.

Also gave it a try in Chrome and Opera, on Win 8.1 as well as on Win 10: everything’s fine there.

FF on Win 8.1 is the only combo (I know) having this issue.

I don’t know if this helps:

The Firefox developer console lists different fonts for OMGF on (font too thin) vs. OMGF off (font ok):

    (@daanvandenbergh)

It seems to be an issue with rendering variable fonts in Firefox, and Win 8.1. @supportdelfino are you also on Win 8.1?

    (@hermitc)

Forgot to make it clear in my last posts: FF on Win10 has the same problem. Tested it on https://www.lambdatest.com
