I tried to copy some new code from a breadcrumbs plugin into the functions.php and when I updated it, it gave me this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /web/htdocs/www.caminoartanddesign.com/home/wp/wp-content/themes/Visualtheme/functions.php on line 115

Now I can′t access my admin panel or do anything. Is there a way to directly remove the code from the database control panel?

    Please help!

  • go to your hosting control panel or cpanel and remove the code from there and don’t forget to save it.

Thanks, I don′t know how to find it in my control panel

Im using mysql, is that the right place?

Not MySQL. Use FTP to get the file and remove the bad code.

Thanks Knut. Could you explain how I use FTP?

    Thanks a lot.

In control Panel you should have something like file manager, go to here and locate functions.php then edit it to remove the code you added earlier and then save it.

Ok, thanks, I have found the functions.php file

I can delete the bad code but it doesn′t give me any option to save, the bottom of the box seems corrupted somehow.

So when I close it and open it again the code is back.

IS there someway around this, can I delete the functions and upload a clean one?

There should be a save button there. If you delete the functions.php file make sure you copy all the code first without the breadcrumb bit you added earlier. Create another file called functions.php and paste the good code back into it then save it.
