Wrong DNS for website??

Hi all, i am a new user, so please bear with the ignorance.
i recently made a website through wordpress, but my domain doesn’t seem to work : “www.example.com”
However my subdomaain “www.example.com/example1/” seems to work as my front page.
I was hinking that this is because i put the installation of wordpress in a folder i called “example1” in my Webhost setup?

Does anybody have a clue of what i’m talking about, and any suggestions for resolution?
Can i delete the wordpress from my Webhost directly from wordpress or do i need to call the Webhost support?
