    Make sure you’re posting in the code and not typing it and try using the HTML view. The visual editor is too smart for its own good.

    Yeah, I’m using Text mode not Visual. It’s really easy to reproduce this issue with a fresh WordPress install. I can provide a screen record to reproduce it if you like.

    I experience the same issue using version 3.3.2 of the plugin and WordPress 4.9.8. This issue with the combination of markdown and this plugin has been plaguing me with no solution for quite a long time.
    I would gladly help with anything needed to debug it.
