• Last time I had posted about an issue I was having, thinking it was an upgrade problem. I realize it wasn’t. Someone pointed me in the right direction, but this isn’t working.

Now, one of my private blogs allows me, when I am writing a new post, to have the Visual and Code options. Now, another of my blogs, only gives me the Code option. I know I am suppose to go into the Admin-Users-Your Profile and I’d see the option to check the box to write using the visual. Well, for the blog I am trying to do that with, I realize when I click the My Profile tab, it doesn’t have that check option to do that, neither does it have that statement with the checkbox next to it. It just has nothing.

Now, I played around a bit, so that I could make sure that I did everything I needed to do before I post this, and I decided to go to Admin-Users and then click Edit next to my name, as I am the only blogger on my blog, and when that opened up, I got the check box next to the statement: Use the visual editor when writing.

When I check it, and then go to write a post to see if the Write A Post page was different, well it’s different but now it has neither option. It doesn’t have the Visual or Code option. It just has the title area, text area and all the other areas, and doesn’t have anything to help me include images or anything. It’s just a text area, as if I opened up notepad and know how to use html to write my post.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I tried doing this same exact thing on the private blog that does have the Visual and Code options working fine, and it works there when I go into the Admin-Users and click Edit.

I found what I was suppose to select to do this, but now it’s not working. Can anyone help me, or suggest?

  • Clear your browser cache? (hit ctrl-F5 when you’re on the Write Post screen).

Nah that didn’t work. Thanks for trying. But, I realize that when I go to my Write A Post page, when everything’s loaded, at the bottom of my IE browser, there’s the yellow on white exclaimation mark. As if there’s an error on the page?

Thanks MrBig, but that doesn’t work. My problem isn’t knowing where to go, and so forth, because I do. I don’t have any scripts or java on my computer, to cause it not to show up. I use the same computer, when I am updating all of my blogs. So, it’s nothing to do with my computer, as for my private blog, it’s fine, but for the other’s it’s not.

    No, don’t double post!
No matter where your topic is – it always shows up on the main page when updated.
No need for double posting in “another forum”.

I am having the exact same problem as this… on my work blog I can use the visual editor but on my personal blog I can’t. All the settings are the same, I have tried using firefox and IE but it doesn’t work. I also get the exclamation point in a yellow triangle in the bottom left hand corner of the page. Help!

Try re-uploading (or uploading if you dont have) Advanced Tiny MCE.
I also re-uploaded the wp-content folder and then logged out, cleared cache and temporary internet files and then logged back in.

    This worked for me.

    Sorry, meant wp-includes, not content.
