• I started a post, and attempted to use the “upload image” feature, under the post. It told me that the parent directory wasn’t writeable. So I made the wp-content directory writeable, and it worked.

But is it okay for me to leave this directory writeable? Is it secure?

  • its not secure, by any means, but its required to have it world-writable if you wish to upload.

    Take it or leave it.

You can chmod it back to something more secure if youre nervous, and adjust it when you need to upload. That does work too.

fwiw, NO world-writable directory should EVER be considered secure.
