write by e-mail

I have set my email account settings for writing ny email as per those in my Outlook account settings but I get the following error when I try and check for any sent mail
Ooops POP3 connect: Error [220-server71.totalchoicehosting.com ESMTP Exim 4.34 #1 Sat, 26 Jun 2004 09:26:33 -0400 ]
Are there any variations on the normal settings that I have to consider?
ie. mailsvr/login/port/password
