wrapping subheading content

According to the FAQ and the screen shots, there should be an option called Wrap the SubHeading content with Before: and After: items (like heading tags)
However, in version 1.7.3 the Before: and After: fields are preceded with the “Automatically display subheading before post” check box option.If I check this option, I can see the subheading displayed with the heading tags I’ve chosen. But the subheading is also displayed a second time before the post without styling (just wrapped in the default p tags)
