wpStoreCart site is down
-
The wpStoreCart site has been down for a few days. I have tickets in for finding fixes on a whole bunch of bugs. My client is so pissed about not getting her store up and running for a month and a half I now have to find another solution for her.
wpStoreCart has great potential but after 3 years of building it has so bugs it is totally unusable at this point. Now that the site is down and again tickets are not getting answered and resolved I have to move to something else to work. even though I bought 3 pro wpStoreCarts from you.
I understand that your time is limited because of what is going on in your life right now. You may need to fix that first so you can put forth the effort needed to get wpStoreCart to work right.

User name is email? Somewhat confusing where it says username instead of user e-mail. Or register with username, email, and pass.
A. You can change the Username text at wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Settings > Language > Username >
Step 2 if under $100 shows shipping as N/C, $20 product shows no charge for shipping. USPS shipping not showing, UPS shipping not showing, No shipping upgrades showing.
1) Take a look at wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Settings > Shipping > Zip code you ship FROM > and double check that you have a 5 digit zip code from where you will be shipping from.
2) Take a look at wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Settings > Shipping > and then scroll down to UPS Shipping. Double check that “Enable UPS Shipping?” is set to Yes. Do the same for “Free Shipping” Then double check that in the “What UPS Products Are Available?” area, that at least one UPS shipping option is available.
3) Double check all your products in the admin area, and make sure that under the Shipping tab, that “Enable UPS Shipping?” is set to Yes for all products. Do the same for “Enable Free Shipping”
Try to use the check out in the sidebar widget instead of the check out with PayPal on the main page and it doesn’t work.
Yeah, that’s because you have custom fields that are required at checkout. There’s not enough space to effectively show all the required fields, so I wouldn’t recommend using that unless you only sell digital products to guest accounts.
The order of products and categories can’t be individually arranged in order of hierarchy. They display in order of how they are submitted as far as I can find.
The only way to change order is to set wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Settings > Display > Main Page > Content of the Main Page > to “List All Products In Custom Order” and then go to wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Edit Products > and arrange the products in the order you wish them to display in. If you enable Product Filtering (wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Main Page > Enable Product Filtering (BETA) > Yes ) then your categories will be displayed at the top of the page, and clicking on them will use ajax to filter the page to show only the products and categories inside the current category.
I understand that not all of my answers here provide the exact solution you are looking for, but to that end, may I ask what I can do to make you and your client happy? I want to provide the best possible service I can, so let me know what’s next. Thanks again.
I think your shipping issue was lack of collecting the customer’s country. All the shipping fields are required for shipping to work.
Hmm, still having an issue with your site. Hold tight, got another update for you later this evening, see if I can get this all smoothed out for you.
Variations don’t seem to work for me. I go to create a variation for 8oz and 4oz of a product. There is only one box to put info into ”Name this product’s variations group:” The only thing that shows up in the dropdown is “Name this product’s variations group:” Attributes seem to work well for me I can now edit and delete them at will and the look great on the page.
I have all shipping turned on, checked, and resaved still no shipping choices showing. This is the error message I get “You are missing required information”.
Can we use UPS and USPS as choices?
Now even when I’m logged in and try to buy something it wants my city but won’t except it when I put it in and submit the shipping info.
Shipping info still gets this error “Not all of the required fields were filled out. “Please fill out all the required information and try again.”
I tried it a few times and yes all the required fields are full.
I just went over all the settings again and can’t get registered so I can buy.Just to through in a quick question about button classes. I tried a bunch of stuff to make Add to Cart button classes work with no luck. Got an example of what I need? evidently I am not choosing the correct code from firebug.
You are gaining on getting your plugin 100% I do appreciate the support. I have a call with the owner in a few minutes for an update.
Related Products, & Combo Deals
This is something on my support tickets that I believe I forgot to mention.Related products seem to work fine. But there is no place for text to say something like purchase together and get 10% or whatever off of these products.
Having smaller thumbnails horizontally above the description may work allot better for sales than the bottom of the page. Or vertical on the right side top
Combo Deals just don’t do anything at all and again a fantastic marketing tool again above the description may work allot better for sales than the bottom of the page.
I know one thing at a time just wanted to mention this since I stumbled upon it again.
Need to get registration and shipping first so she can send people here to buy.
ThanksJust need to fix the registration for now so she can sell some stuff.
We will just do free shipping for everyone. She doesn’t care just needs her site like real bad!!!!!OK here we go.
We have already decided to go with Free Shipping on all orders because the shipping part is not working. Now I’m desperately trying to get the registration shut off.I am trying to shut off all registration to at least get to start selling something even if we are not getting information to contact customers for repeat business that is Extremely vital to the success of any business.
I made it an option not to register and checked go to check out after adding a product because without the widget in the sidebar there is no proceed to cart button on the page.
When you get to the check out there is no product showing in the check out and it wants “shipping and tax information” with fields to fill out that won’t take the information (Yes, all fields are getting filled out).
Not sure what the orders page is for I can’t seem to get anything to direct to there. But when I view the page there are no products on that page only registration information fields and Shipping and tax information to fill out but that page doesn’t get redirected to anyway.
So now I switched to no registration at all and still get the same fields to fill out that don’t work making it impossible to sell anything still.
I can’t seem to get a proceed to check out or cart button to show on any page. I had to put the widget back on the side bar that has a button to get to the checkout but doesn’t go to the pay page.
I realize that there are a massive number of things to fix to make this work and my customer had high hopes that they would get resolved in a timely manner. We waited for some kind of response from you yesterday. I really don’t want to redo this whole site, Zen Cart is very robust but a huge undertaking to learn. Please help me here I am already looking like a total ass for making this choice, it’s getting on to 2 months on this little project, Yes I’m losing my butt here.
No problem, I’ll get you sorted out this evening. Luckily, I don’t think everything you listed boils down to a bug. Once again, I’ll be going through each item and resolving it. I’ll be updating this thread with my replies as I progress. Thanks for your help & patience in this matter, hopefully we can wrap this all up today.
To be totally honest with you at this point I have clicked and unclicked so many buttons in a panic for hours to get this thing working I have no idea where I am right now.
Thanks for getting back with me
BWBack at it!
Starting to do some of the SEOAn issue I see right off the bat is the intro description is only showing on the WP pages on some of the products. All the intros are on the products inside the storecart. Is there a reason for this?
It looks like all the products I put on last month have a Meta Desc only like two products have them from this month. The SEO part has always been a concern especially with Ajax but is can be done. Always concerned about how much info is actually getting index and cached. Another concern is are the categories showing up they were not included in the site map when I built it.
I know a little time will tell I just turned this thing on live to do the SEO today.Posting this for further discussion later, defiantly going to be ongoing but get the SEO down and working it makes a product worth a whole bunch more.
Registration problem is resolved and live on the site in 3.9.19. wpStoreCart 3.9.20 is being released right now, and should post on WordPress’ site very shortly.
When you create a new Simple Variation, you can click the Pencil icon next to the new variation and edit the Variation just like a regular product, meaning custom description, thumbnail, image gallery, etc. However, if Attributes are working for your needs, no reason to change.
I have all shipping turned on, checked, and resaved still no shipping choices showing. This is the error message I get “You are missing required information”.
Yep, I got that same issue as well, that’s what I was talking about when I posted the “Hmm, still having an issue with your site” post above. It’s patched in 3.9.19.
Can we use UPS and USPS as choices?
Yes, but you will need the USPS team to move your account to their live servers.
Just to through in a quick question about button classes. I tried a bunch of stuff to make Add to Cart button classes work with no luck. Got an example of what I need? evidently I am not choosing the correct code from firebug.
Just make a CSS class for your buttons, we’ll call it:
.my-custom-buttons-classNow, goto wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Settings > Display > Buttons > Add to Cart button classes > and in the box write:
my-custom-buttons-classyou can add multiple classes by seperating with spaces, like this:
my-custom-buttons-class class2 class3 class-etcRelated products seem to work fine. But there is no place for text to say something like purchase together and get 10% or whatever off of these products.
True, but if you’re placing the related products after the description, you can simply write that in the description.
Combo Deals just don’t do anything at all and again a fantastic marketing tool again above the description may work allot better for sales than the bottom of the page.
Combos are fixed in 3.9.20. It was missing a single line of code, which was preventing it from displaying the combo’s add to cart button:
$atLeast1Product = true; When you’re creating the combos, you can set them up at wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Marketing > Combos > and then adding them to products from wp-admin > wpStoreCart > Edit Product > YOUR PRODUCT > Accessories > Combo Pack >
Uploading 3.9.20 now
Not collecting address in the users just did allmylovecrafts email.
Kinda need addresses to ship to.Tax is getting charged in NV. when it is only turned on for CA.
Related products seem to be the same just can’t delete anything now.
Lost everything from the controls on the editors, pencils, blue spinning wheel, a bunch of stuff.
Tried again to register “onomoney” the only thing collected in users is the phone #
Got to PayPal though that is a gain.
I also got an email finaly, first one I got from the site [The Tanologist Store] Your username and password
An issue I see right off the bat is the intro description is only showing on the WP pages on some of the products. All the intros are on the products inside the storecart. Is there a reason for this?
I just cycled through all the products and they all displayed the intro and full descriptions.
It looks like all the products I put on last month have a Meta Desc only like two products have them from this month.
The SEO part has always been a concern especially with Ajax but is can be done. Always concerned about how much info is actually getting index and cached. Another concern is are the categories showing up they were not included in the site map when I built it.
I know a little time will tell I just turned this thing on live to do the SEO today.I see the Yoast SEO plugin you added, good choice. You can use virtually any SEO plugin to enhance wpStoreCart powered stores, since it uses standard WordPress pages. With that said, my roadmap does include some pretty awesome SEO enhancements in the near future, things like microdata rich snippets, which enhance Google and other search engine results with things such as the fact that the data is about a product, and includes things like the products price, thumbnail, ratings etc.
Tax is getting charged in NV. when it is only turned on for CA.
Yeah, you have it set to charge the entire United States 7.5% as well as CA. Delete the tax and then only select California. The country selection screen is for countries that have a country wide tax.
Related products seem to be the same just can’t delete anything now.
I just deleted related products on Original Sunless Solution with no problem. The only thing changed in 3.9.20 is not in regards to related products, but instead in regards to Combo Packs which I wrote above.
Lost everything from the controls on the editors, pencils, blue spinning wheel, a bunch of stuff.
Not seeing this, everything looks fine in your admin panel. Sounds like a momentary connection issue or something.
Tried again to register “onomoney” the only thing collected in users is the phone #
Got to PayPal though that is a gain.Yeah, I took a look and had the same results. I should clarify that all these registration issues have to do with the way your server handles sessions, and the way I choose to rely on sessions in my code. So for me, on my test environments, registration and custom fields have worked fine for me since v3.0.0. I had these same issues back when the cart used sessions back in early 2.x versions, and I had to code around it and move away from sessions. I’m essentially doing the same thing here, since the custom user fields are using sessions. Basically what I’m saying is that on my servers and test environments, I don’t have any of these issues, and therefore they’ve made it passed my testing. Your hostgator environment has different session handling settings, and that’s triggering these session related bugs that I have yet to encounter. I’ll whip up another recode to insure that the data is making it’s way into your profiles in 3.9.21.
ahh, I see it now, that the cache is expired. It looks like your last update failed, reinstall 3.9.20.
