    Hi,

Are you on the latest version of WordPress 5.6.1 and Yoast SEO for WordPress 15.8? Also, could you let us know if you’ve completed the SEO data optimization under your WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Tools? Is this for a particularly large site with a lot of taxonomies?

Are you on the latest version of WordPress 5.6.1 and Yoast SEO for WordPress 15.8?

    Yes and yes.

Also, could you let us know if you’ve completed the SEO data optimization under your WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Tools?

Yes. Done it, no change. It is the same size > 1MB.

Is this for a particularly large site with a lot of taxonomies?

It certainly is not a small site. But how large is large?
They have over 4,500 products on the shop (WooCommerce).

    @alekv Thanks for your reply.

Regarding the site of the site, yes, 4500 products would definitely be leaning towards what we would consider a large site.

Do the products make up the bulk of the site? Also, can you please let us know what the number of taxonomies on the site are?

Do the products make up the bulk of the site?

Yes, but there’s another 1,500 published pages.

Also, can you please let us know what the number of taxonomies on the site are?

Only 22. But taxonomy terms more than 6,000.

Thanks for your confirmation. Since you have more than 6,000 taxonomy terms, the wpseo_taxonomy_meta grown big. Can you please confirm whether the relevant table causes the slowness of your site? If yes, where exactly do you feel the slowness? Is it on the edit product page or somewhere else?

Also, can you please use Query Monitor plugin to see what exact query is causing the slowness on the relevant page?

We have difficulties with our hosting providers setup (WP Engine) which is automatically killing certain queries on the database. One of their engineers told me the reason is likely to be that autoloaded options are too big. Their recommendation is to keep autoloaded options < 800kb. That’s obviously not possible if wpseo_taxonomy_meta alone is >1MB.

Thanks for your clarification. In this Case, we’d like to see the relevant database queries on the relevant page that is executing. You can install the Query Monitor plugin to find out the exact database query as suggested above.

Let us know once you have the relevant database query for us.
